Group Facilitation Methods (001FAC)

Description

Next session: January 11 & 12 2027 in-person Fairbairn House

The course is focused on learning and practicing practical methods for designing and delivering facilitated events. The course touches only very lightly on the "soft skills" of facilitation and the underlying facilitation theory, instead aiming to introduce practical steps and tools that learners will find immediately useful. The great advantage of this methods-focused approach is that it suits both newcomers to the facilitator role and experienced facilitators, because the methods are both a great framework for starting out and a great tool for the toolbox of more experienced participants. During the course we focus on two core methods:

 - The Focused Conversation method, for planning and running conversations the include everyone, don't get stuck or go in circles, and lead to real ownership and action
 - The Consensus Workshop method, for supporting groups to find shared answers to any important question that they may be facing.

The course includes a detailed course manual for each participant and you can learn more about the standard course on the ICA:uk website.
